Passing of the Peace God Loves You and There is Nothing You Can Do About It

Musical Prayer I’ve Got Peace Like  a River

I’ve Got Peace Like  a River……I’ve gotScripture Gospel ofJohn 13:21-3521After saying this Jesus was troubled in spirit, and declared, “Very truly, I tell you, one of you will betray me.” 22The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he was speaking. ……Jesus said to him (Judas) , “Do quickly what you are going to do.” 28Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him.29Some thought that, because Judas had the common purse, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the festival”; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30So, after receiving the piece of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night…….(Jesus said) .34” I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Reading “Like millions of women, Eve has been waiting much of her lifetime for an apology. Sexually and physically abused by her father, Eve has struggled her whole life from this betrayal, longing for an honest reckoning from a man who is long dead. After years of work as an anti-violence activist, she decided she would wait no longer; an apology could be imagined, by her, for her, to her. The Apology, written by Eve from her father’s point of view in the words she longed to hear, attempts to transform the abuse she suffered with unflinching truthfulness, compassion, into an expansive vision for the future.”

Review of the book by Anita Hill“As only she can, Eve Ensler shares the story of her father’s ultimate betrayal with both unflinching candor and immeasurable grace. Through sheer creative force, she takes us on her own journey to healing. Though Ensler’s story is deeply personal, its lessons are universal.”

Passing of the Peace God Loves You and There is Nothing You Can Do About It

Prayer   (in unison)      Dear God of the Cosmic Dance of Masculine and Feminine Energies, Archetypes and Symbols. We come to marry the Jesus and Mary Magdalene within us and amongst us. We come to restore and honor the sacred bride in Christianity, western civilization and planet earth that was left out during the first few hundred years of Christianity, the 153, the Magdalene who was  left out, dishonored and almost forgotten. We reinstate her as bride today and every gathering of worship. The power of the masculine has become dangerously out of balance. We feel your holy presence as we pray, study scripture and come seeking healing and wholeness in beloved community. May we feel the spirit of  Mary Magdalene, who is here at our home church at 13014 Calle De Las Rosas and her beloved Jesus, reunited.   May the Christ-Sophia dance within us  during worship that we may  love and be loved,  heal and be healed and give and receive  blessings. Amen

Scripture parts ofGospel ofJohn 21:1-19  Jesus  said to them, “Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”…11So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred fifty-three of them; and though there were so many, the net was not torn. 12Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” ...14This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.15When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16A second time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17He said to him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

Reading Margaret Starbird, Magdalen’s Lost Legacy“Sacred partnership was not invented in the first century. It was ritually celebrated in many regions of the Near East long before the advent of Christianity. In Mesopotamian, for example temples to god and goddess couples were often built side by side, honoring he divine energies as intimate partners. Inanna and Dumuzi, Ishtar and Tammus…the “sacred marriage” spread out from the “bridal chamber” to the lands, bringing fertility and well-being to people  and their crops and herds….Though the stories of these deities differ, in some respects they have  significant elements in common, such as the celebration of the nuptials of the pair; the sacrificial death of the bridegroom/king; the joyful garden reunion of the separated couple at the site of his resurrection.”

Chant One love, one heart, Let's get together and feel all right.(repeat)

Silence

Reading Margaret Starbird, Magdalen’s Lost Legacy“What we worship we become. We are creating the wasteland for which clear-cut forests, scarred mountainsides, dying species and melting icecaps are but tragic examples. The abused children, the exploited workers, the maimed veterans—and the planet herself—cry aloud for reprieve! Our civilization is reaping a bitter harvest of the bride denied. When the patriarchs of the early Christianity supplanted the model of sacred marriage that was at the heart of the infant church and denied Mary Magdalene as the consort of their sacrificed Bridegroom/king they could not have foreseen the tragic consequences of the broken mandala.” (p. 61)

Chant Come and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Spirit come. (repeat)

Silence

Reading  “… there were exactly 153 fishes in the unbroken net (John 21) …The Greek spelling for the name of Jesus was computed to 888, denoting the rising sun or dawn of the New Age…So in the esoteric language of symbolic numbers, the 1224 diameter of our New Jerusalem is 8 x153—the new day of the Fishes….The number 153 is not only the number of the fishes caught in the net, nor is it merely a basic measurement of the Holy City. The number 153 is also by the gematria the sum of the letters of “the Magdalene.” (p137-139)

Chanting One love, one heart, One heartwarming everyone. One hope,  one joy, One loving filling everyone. (repeat)

Silence

Reading “Realizing the worship of an exclusively male image of God is both distorted and dangerous, we struggle to articulate attributes and images of God, trying to express the idea that god/goddess is not an “either/or” but a “both/and”—a supreme being whose essence manifests both masculine and feminine attributes….Perhaps now, as we are opening to a new era of equality in many areas of life and society it is time to reclaim the ancient paradigm for partnership and wholeness symbolized by the star of hieros gamos (the Star of David) …Jungian studies of psychology teach the integration and healing of the psyche when the inner energies of the masculine and feminine are encouraged to develop and to coexist in partnership…The image of God as partners creates steams of living water flowing out into the desert, healing the wasteland. “ (p 17)

Chant “Come and fill my heart with your peace, you the God of love are holy. Come and fill our hearts with your peace”

Silence

Reading ‘The reading of Marija Gimutus and other anthropologists  suggest that regions with bountiful harvests, abundant rainfall, and generally temperate conditions are part to have evolved religions based on a loving and generative Earth Goddess, while the tribes of arid steppes and deserts, where the realities of life are harsh and unaccommodating, are less likely to have formed a relationship with this bountiful goddess image and instead have often worshipped dominating and angry warrior Gods.” (p15)

Chant O God hear my prayer, O God hear my pray when I call anser me. Repeat….come and listen to me. (repeat)

Silence

Reading “The exaltation of the Virgin Mary as theotokos--“The Mother of God”—from the fifth century onward through fifteen millennia of Western civilization has provided us with an ideal feminine, a tender and compassionate mother set on high on a pedestal, a beautiful queen and pure vision of chaste maidenhood…beautiful as the eternal mother is, the representation of the eternal feminine as Virgin Mother does not provoke us with a “partnership” paradigm—the model for life on planet Earth—as does the “sacred marriage” for Jesus and his true bride.”

ChantO God of Loveliness O Lord of Heaven AboveHow worthy to possess my hearts devoted love.So sweet they countenance so gracious to behold  That one, one only glance to me were bliss untold(repeat)

Silence

Reading “Mandatory celibacy, enforced after 1139, appear to have concretized the erroneous assumption that Jesus was celibate…In addition to the mandatory celibacy of preists, other important issues that are closely related to the denial of the “Sacred Feminine” include gender equality and the acceptance of women priests, the ban on birth control…Balance will only be restored…when full gender equality is embraced: when the demands for celibacy lifted, women ordained and the Mary the “Beloved” is restored to her archetypal Bridegroom in Sacred Union.” ( p 147)

Chant Sweet will of God, still fold me closer. Till I am wholly lost in Thee. (repeat)

Silence

Reading Vesica Piscis ()The “measurement”  of “ or “matrix of the fish” identity in with the feminine orifice, “gateway of life.” The symbol is the “mother of all geometry” is formed when two circles intersect and overlap Representing the “Grail” or “Chalice,” also “Scared Cauldron of Creativity.” (p.157)

Chant Alleluia (repeat) Kiss the Bride of Christ, Mary Magdalene (repeat)

Silence

Reading“The raw power of the 666 can be appropriated by any totalitarianism  or repressive regime……the historic empires Egypt, Babylon, Assyria, Rome….to the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century, such as those led by Hitler…embodies the solar principle, and the number 666….callous, disregard for the poor, the powerless, the “Little ones’ and women…..the raising of the human Jesus to an object of cultic worship… is being corrupted into a cult worship of an idol—a human being  declared to be equal to God—in a scenarios no different from the imperial cultures of Rome’s’ Caesars, except that is it far more dangerous because it is archetypal….Our earth now reaps the terrifying harvest of the 666 orientation of the major monotheistic religions and their systematic denigration of the complimentary feminine principle designed to sheath the sword.”” (p.55 and 103-104)

ChantO Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee, I give thee back the life I owe, that in Thine ocean depths its flow, may richer fuller be. (repeat)

Silence

Reading “The sinister shadow of the repressed and neglected feminine—Eros denied!- now rears her ugly hear in the dissociated, violent and rebellious behavior of undisciplined youth, criminals and terrorists. Scorned as bride and partner and denied a position of honor, -she becomes a hideous Medusa lashing out to cause destruction to the fundamental institutions on which the human family relies…This assessment of the fundamental crack in Western civilization appears to be simplistic but we are dealing with the scorning of a powerful archetype—the bride—which has enormous consequences for a planet whose nations perennially honor male presences and  purposes, polices oriented toward the exercise of power. Violent aberrant behavior is often manifested by persons who suffered deprivation and abuse during childhood—a condition currently prevalent in the global family (p61) …..With the help of this dynamic new understanding of the texts sacred to Christianity, we might heal the burned out wasteland of the twentieth century and restore the balance necessary to maintain and nurture life on our blessed planet Earth.”

Marriage Vows…. “ We do” For all those who have been joined by God, let no one separate. I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.

Anointing

Chant (Annie’s Song John Denver)You fill up my senses like a night in a forest Like the mountains in springtime like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses Come fill me again. (Repeat)

Dancing in Celebration of Earth Day and Our Common Home Mother Earth

John 20:19-31

19 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”22When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” 24But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.25So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.” 28Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”30Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.

“Angels,”Mary Oliver

You might see an angel anytime
and anywhere. Of course you have
to open your eyes to a kind of
second level, but it’s not really
hard. The whole business of
what’s reality and what isn’t has
never been solved and probably
never will be. So I don’t care to
be too definite about anything.
I have a lot of edges called Perhaps
and almost nothing you can call
Certainty. For myself, but not
for other people. That’s a place
you just can’t get into, not
entirely anyway, other people’s
heads.

I’ll just leave you with this.
I don’t care how many angels can
dance on the head of a pin. It’s
enough to know that for some people
they exist, and that they dance.

Garden Songby John Denver

ChorusInch by inch, row by row, Gonna make this garden grow

All it takes is a rake and a hoe, And a piece of fertile ground

Inch by inch, row by row, Someone bless these seeds I sow

Please God warm them from below, Till the rain comes tumbling down.

1. Pulling weeds and picking stones ,We are made of dreams and bones

Feel the need to grow my own, Cause the time is close at hand

Grain for grain, sun and rain, Find my way in nature's chain

Tune my body and my brain, To the music from the land.

2. Plant your rows straight and long, Temper them with prayer and song

Mother Earth will make you strong, If you give her love and care

Mother crow watching me , From her perch in yonder tree

In my garden I'm as free,  As that feathered mother  up there.

Reflection       Easter and Earth Day and Dying  in love in an Ecological Civilization and new Spring for Humanity!

Musical response     Into the Garden Alone(see insert)

Prayer   (in unison)      Dear God of  Love,

We ask for your blessings on this holy day of Easter as we reclaim the wisdom of our teachers Jesus and Mary Magdalene. We come to commune with you, to open our eyes gracious God and ask you to please grant us inspiration and hope. We give thanks for the magnificence of creation. We ask for forgiveness for all the ways our human family has becoming numb and disassociated and often we have not loved you and you that is  in all nature that is of you and sacred.  We pray for the earth who is a living Being. We pray for our loved ones as well as our enemies as Jesus taught us. We pray for our children and grandchildren for Greta Thunberg and those working for an ecologic civilization. We pray for the very young and old both human and non-human and the vulnerable everywhere who need our love and care.  We give thanks this Easter for the hope of spring and our communion with you, now and into eternity. Help us give up our fear of death that we may embrace the joy of living. Thank you for your abundant love.  Amen

Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much seek; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Benediction               Blessing Song           by Miriam Therese Winters

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Communion is coffee, tea and hot cross buns here at the virtual Mary Magdalene Café! All are welcome. (We usually have a pot luck dinner at home but for the beach we have finger food.)

John 20:1-18 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples returned to their homes.

11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses. Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

She speaks, and the sound of Her voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that She gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. Refrain

I’d stay in the garden with Them
Though the night around me be falling,
But They bid me go; through the voice of woe
Their voice to me is calling. Refrain

Swing low, sweet chariot, Coming for to carry me home.
Swing low, sweet chariot, Coming for to carry me home.

I looked over Jordan, what do I see, Coming for to carry me home.
A band of angels coming after me, Coming for to carry me home.[Chorus]

I look over Jordan, what do I see, Coming for to carry me home.
A band of angels coming after me, Coming for to carry me home.

Passing of the Peace   God Loves You and There is Nothing You Can Do About It

Opening MusicOver my head I hear music, (singing, love)  in the air….there must be a God somewhere.

ScripturesJohn 12:12-16The next day the great crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord— the King of Israel!” 14Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it; as it is written: 15“Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” 16His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him.

Words of WisdomGreta Thunberg“I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic..and act as if the house is on fire.”  “So we can’t save the world by playing by the rules. The rules have to be changed. Everything has to change and it has to start today.” "You are not mature enough to tell it like is, even that burden you leave to us children. But I don't care about being popular. I care about climate justice and the living planet. Our civilization is being sacrificed for the opportunity for a very small number of people to continue making enormous amounts of money." Spoken at COP24 summit

Reflection                     Lent Week # 5 The Deer’s Cryby Shaun Davey

I arise today

Through the strength of Heaven, Light of sun

Radiance of moon, Splendor of fire Speed of lightning, Swiftness of wind
Depth of the sea, Stability of earth Firmness of rock

I arise today

Through God’s strength to pilot me God’s eye to look before me
God’s wisdom to guide me God’s way to lie before me

God’s shield to protect me

From all who shall wish me ill, Afar and near
Alone and in a multitude, Against every cruel
Merciless power, That may oppose my body and soul

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ to shield me Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me. I arise today.

Chant Our God is our light, Our light and salvation. In God I trust. In God I trust. (repeat)

Reading  “Furthermore, after living there a while, I also saw the shadow side of the Hindu tradition, which I hadn't seen in my earlier brief visit. There is a fatalistic lack of concern for other people that was alien to me. That view was at variance with my more optimistic, progressivist Christian culture. In India I came face to face with the realization that rooted in the Christian tradition is the sense that you can, and should, help other people; we can aim for some better state of affairs on Earth, for the whole of society. When I talked with my Indian friends and colleagues, it became very clear that I had this view deep within me. I realized that this sense didn't come from Hindu philosophy, nor from my atheistic outlook. Instead, I saw it came from a deeply embedded Christian view of the world that I carried with me unwittingly. In fact, I realized this partly because in conversation with my Indian friends they would frequently point out that so much of what I was expressing was a Christian view. The repeated revelation of this, even to an avowed atheist, was difficult to ignore.” Rupert SheldrakePrayer: a Challenge for Science Noetic Sciences Review, (Summer 1994)

Chant Ubi caritas et amor, ubi caritas De-usi-biest. Live in charity and steadfast love, live in charity, God will dwell in you. (repeat)

Silence

Reading “I spent some time living in Father Bede Griffiths ashram, and I found that coming back to a Christian path made sense to me. I began praying and discovered that it was more helpful to me than meditating. I would say that meditation involves a kind of separation between the practice and the rest of one’s life; it is going into another space altogether. You could say that contemplative prayer would have the same effect. But for me, ordinary petitionary and intercessory prayer, such as the "Lord’s Prayer" links the events of my daily life directly with my practice. I pray about what I've done that day and what’s coming up the next day. It's a matter of bringing the very fabric of one's life -relationships, work, and personal concerns into the context of the spiritual life.” Rupert Sheldrake

Chant “Come and fill my heart with your peace, you the God of love are holy. Come and fill our hearts with your peace”

Silence

Reading The key to understanding prayer as a scientific phenomenon requires, in my view, getting away from the idea of the mind as somehow inside the brain. If we think our minds are confined to our brains the standard view then since what goes on in our brain occurs in the privacy and isolation of our own skull it can’t affect anyone else. However, I see minds being field-like in nature (part of my general view of morphic fields), and I see mental fields as the basis for habitual patterns of thought. Mental fields go beyond, though, and interface with the electromagnetic patterns in the brain. In this way mental fields can affect our bodies through our brains. However, they are much more extensive than our brains, reaching out to great distances in some cases.”Rupert Sheldrake

Chant Sweet will of God, still fold me closer. Till I am wholly lost in Thee. (repeat)

Silence

Reading “If prayer affects things in the physical world, its effects should be measurable, and science should be able to investigate it. There is a very scattered literature on this, but when you bring it all together as Larry Dossey has done in his recent book, Healing Words (Harper San Francisco, 1993), you see there is quite a large number of interesting experiments with challenging results. Out of 131 controlled experiments on prayer-based healing, more than half showed statistically significant benefits. One of the best known is a double blind study of 393 patients in the coronary unit at San Francisco General Hospital. In this experiment, 192 patients, chosen at random, were prayed for by home prayer groups, the others were not. The prayed-for patients recovered better than the controls, and fewer died.”Rupert Sheldrake

Chant HolySpirit come to us, kindle in us the fire of your love, Holy Spirit, come to us, Holy Spirit, come to us.”(repeat)

Silence

Reading “”Sometimes, a person drawn to subtle activism sees himself or herself as a “warrior of light” going forth to do battle with forces of darkness.” It’s easy to frame a situation so that there are “friends” to help and “enemies” to combat. But subtle activism is not spiritual combat. It is an act of healing, which is inclusive by its nature. There are no enemies in subtle activism, only conditions to be understood, held in love and positive energies and transformed. When we are aligned with sacredness, we feel this inclusiveness more powerfully…..We must be whatever it is that we “send.” David Spangler Working with Subtle  Energies

Chant Come and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Sprit come. (repeat)

Silence

“You could picture it something like this: When two people come into contact and establish some mental connection (perhaps experienced as affection, love, even hate) their morphic fields in effect become part of a larger, inclusive field. Then, if they separate from each other it is as if their particular portions of the morphic field are stretched elastically, so that there remains a "mental tension" or link between them. There has to be something like this that relates the two people.”Rupert Sheldrake

ChantO God of Loveliness O Lord of Heaven AboveHow worthy to possess my hearts devoted love.So sweet they countenance so gracious to behold  That one, one only glance to me were bliss untold(repeat)

Silence

Reading ““Because I believe in God, I find it  supremely important to reconsider and doubt my belief, And because God is of ultimate importance, how we think of God deeply affects how we live. Every misunderstanding

of God reflects itself in a misdirection of human energy.”  John B. Cobb Jr. Can Christ be Good News Again?

Chant O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee, I give thee back the life I owe, that in Thine ocean depths its flow, may richer fuller be. (repeat)

Silence

Reading“Christ is the giver of life to all who live, of freedom to all who are free, of understanding to all who understand, of love to all who love. Apart from Christ, there could be no life, no reason, no imagination, no personal or social redemption. But neither in Jesus, nor elsewhere, does Christ compel human beings to respond to the divine gift, promise, and call. Christ does not act as one agent alongside others but in the empowering and directing of every agent.”  John B. Cobb Jr. Can Christ be Good News Again?

ChantChrist with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise, Christ to shield me, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me.
I arise today.

Reading Gospel of John 12:1-8 Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 2There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him. 3Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, 5“Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” 6(He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.)7Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial. 8You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”

Benediction               Blessing Song           by Miriam Therese Winters

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

O God of Loveliness O Lord of Heaven Above
O God of Loveliness O Lord of Heaven Above
How worthy to possess my hearts devoted love.
So sweet they countenance so gracious to behold
That one, one only glance to me were bliss untold

Gospel of Luke 15:1-32 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him. 2And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.” 3So he told them this parable: 4“Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? 5When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. 6And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ 7Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. 8“Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ 10Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

11Then Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the property that will belong to me.’ So he divided his property between them. 13A few days later the younger son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living. 14When he had spent everything, a severe famine took place throughout that country, and he began to be in need. 15So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed the pigs. 16He would gladly have filled himself with the pods that the pigs were eating; and no one gave him anything. 17But when he came to himself he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger! 18I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands.”’ 20So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him. 21Then the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly, bring out a robe—the best one—and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; 24for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!’ And they began to celebrate.25“Now his elder son was in the field; and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. 26He called one of the slaves and asked what was going on. 27He replied, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.’ 28Then he became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. 29But he answered his father, ‘Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends. 30But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!’ 31Then the father said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found.’”

So many colors in the morning sun, So many colors in the flower and I see every one

And she said, Flowers are red young lady and
Green leaves are green, There's no need to see flowers any other way

Silent Prayer

Scripture Gospel of Luke 13:1-9 “At that very time there were some present who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2He asked them, “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans? 3No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. 4Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them—do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.”

6Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. 7So he said to the gardener, ‘See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?’ 8He replied, ‘Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it. 9If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”

Meditation  ”(Exercise to create an identity pouch) It’s a container. However, it’s more than just that. In a similar way, you are a space that holds the content of your life: your thoughts, feelings, memories and so forth. These contents are important, but they do not fully define you. You can transcend them if you need to; you can change and transform because what you are as a spirit and soul as a living identity, is larger than the contents of your mind. Like the carpetbag which Mary Poppins carried that could hold anything no matter how large, the space within you, the space of your soul and your imagination, can hold anything you put into it.”  Working with Subtle Energiesby   David Spangler

Scripture Gospel of Luke 13:31-35 NRSVAt that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32He said to them, “Go and tell that fox for me, ‘Listen, I am casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish my work. 33Yet today, tomorrow, and the next day I must be on my way, because it is impossible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem.’ 34Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 35See, your house is left to you. And I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Fr. Richard Rorh states that Carol Bieleck intuits in her poem that “we cannot stop the drowning waters of our addictive culture from rising, but we must at least see our reality for what it is, seek to properly detach from it, and build 'a coral castle and learn to breathe under water.' The New Testament called it salvation or enlightenment, the Twelve Step Program called it recovery.”

 BREATHING UNDER WATER

I built my house by the sea.
Not on the sands, mind you;
not on the shifting sand.
And I built it of rock.

A strong house
by a strong sea.
And we got well acquainted, the sea and I.
Good neighbors.
Not that we spoke much.
We met in silences.
Respectful, keeping our distance,
but looking our thoughts across the fence of sand.
Always, the fence of sand our barrier,
always, the sand between.

And then one day,
-and I still don’t know how it happened -
the sea came.
Without warning.

Without welcome, even
Not sudden and swift, but a shifting across the sand like wine,
less like the flow of water than the flow of blood.
Slow, but coming.
Slow, but flowing like an open wound.
And I thought of flight and I thought of drowning and I thought of death.
And while I thought the sea crept higher, till it reached my door.
And I knew, then, there was neither flight, nor death, nor drowning.
That when the sea comes calling, you stop being neighbors,
Well acquainted, friendly-at-a-distance neighbors,
And you give your house for a coral castle,
And you learn to breathe underwater.

TESTIMONIAL TO BONNIE TARWATER  John B. Cobb, Jr.

This request is certainly unusual.  Bonnie Tarwater is an unusual person.  The request expresses her thoroughly intelligent, but certainly counter-cultural, hopes.  Many of us talk about our distress at our alienation from the land, especially the soil and all the life it supports.  Bonnie is way beyond distress.  She really feels her community with the land.  The extraordinary experience of the lovers of the land at Findhorn has grasped her imagination.  She wants to connect with the life of the land as they have done.

With the help of some generous owner of little used land, she will create a place where others can also learn to love the land and interact with it in mutual blessing.  My guess is that such experience will be healing in many ways.  Bonnie Tarwater is that rare person who can turn this vision into reality.  May it be so.

Beloved Is Where We Begin

Meditation “There are four ideas that I wish to affirm at the outset. The first is this: In engaging the subtle worlds, love and trust yourself and have no fear….The second important idea we need to affirm is this: You do not have to be ‘psychic’ to work with the subtle energies. ….The third important idea is this: Subtle energies are not forces to me manipulated but living processes with which you enter into a relationship, each such relationship will be unique with each person. ….The fourth important idea is this: You will perceive subtle energies in your own unique way which may have nothing at all to do with ‘seeing’ or ‘hearing.’

Scripture Luke 4:1-13Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished. 3The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” 4Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’” 5Then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6And the devil said to him, “To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. 7If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” 8Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.’” 9Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,10for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,’ 11and ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.’” 12Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time.

Prayers and Prostrations for the Earth Beloved and Beloved

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

Beloved Is Where We Begin

If you would enter
into the wilderness,
do not begin
without a blessing.
Do not leave
without hearing
who you are:
Beloved,
named by the One
who has traveled this path
before you.
Do not go
without letting it echo
in your ears,
and if you find
it is hard
to let it into your heart,
do not despair.
That is what
this journey is for.
I cannot promise
this blessing will free you
from danger,
from fear,
from hunger
or thirst,
from the scorching
of sun
or the fall
of the night.
But I can tell you
that on this path
there will be help.
I can tell you
that on this way
there will be rest.
I can tell you
that you will know
the strange graces
that come to our aid
only on a road
such as this,
that fly to meet us
bearing comfort
and strength,
that come alongside us
for no other cause
than to lean themselves
toward our ear
and with their
curious insistence
whisper our name:

Beloved.

Beloved.

Beloved.

    TESTIMONIAL TO BONNIE TARWATER

                                                     John B.

Invitations: Our current ecologic crisis is a call to awaken to the reverence of life and the truth that all nature is alive and sacred. As we witness the sixth extinction of life on earth, the only one created by us humans, we are invited to reclaim the ancient wisdom traditions. We are one organic, interspecies, interconnected whole.   What we do affects everyone else. Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before . and commune with the Great  Spirit. We celebrate  the  wisdom traditions from  the East, West, indigenous peoples,  new science as we study the teachings of Jesus and the Bible and the newly found gnostic gospels.

Transfiguration Sunday Taize and Roerich art work

Meditation “For the better part of seventy years, I’ve been aware of a non-physical aspect to the world around me. As a child, this usually took the form of perceiving radiance or emanation of energy surrounding the things around me. My earliest memories are of world in which everything is live….From time to time, I even observed beings—sometimes human, sometimes not—who would appear and disappear seemingly at random….(as an adult)I was visited one morning by an unusually strong and energetic radiant spirit who said we had work to do together…..we entered a collegial partnership that lasted for nearly thirty years.” David Spangler Working with Subtle Energies

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Chant Be still and know that I am God. Be still and know that I am,Be still and know that I,  Be still and know that, Be still and know, Be still and, Be still, Be. (repeat)

Scripture Luke 9:28-36…Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white.

Chant Come and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Sprit come. (repeat)

Silence

Scripture30Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. 31They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.

Chant Our God is our light, Our light and salvation. In God I trust. In God I trust. (repeat)

Silence

Scripture 33

Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” —not knowing what he said. 34While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. 35Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” 36When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.

Chant Sweet will of God, still fold me closer. Till I am wholly lost in Thee. (repeat)

Scripture Reading Gospel ofLuke 6:27-38“But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.29If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. 30Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.34If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

One Billion Rising Dance Valentines Worship - Dancing for Mother Earth

Meditation     “Maybe you’re one of the ones who’s not dancing, who’s sitting in the corner, saying “It’s stupid,” or “I don’t want to,” or “I’m no good.” Well, like the guy at the prom who kindly and nobly takes notice, Jesus is extending his hand to you, asking would you please “answer thou unto my dancing” (M. R. James). “Would you please give Christianity a chance?” he asks. “I know that a lot of people don’t do it right and have made it look ridiculous, and that it can be intimidating to share a floor with those who are more advanced, but let me teach you.” (“When ye are come to me, then shall ye know: what ye know not will I myself teach you” [Holst].)”https://thejesusquestion.org/

The Round Dance of the Cross from Acts of John (editor Marin Meyer)

"For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam"

“Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand and went out with all the women behind her with tambourines and dancing.

“Let them praise God’s name in the dance: let them sing praises unto God with timbrel and harp…Praise you God….Praise God with psaltery and harp. Praise God with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise God upon the loud symbols: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.”

Hymn  We Three Kings

We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain Following yonder star
O Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to thy Perfect Light
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never Over us all to reign
Frankincense to offer have I Incense owns a Deity nigh
Prayer and praising, all men raising Worship Him, God most high
Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume Breathes of life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying Sealed in the stone-cold tomb

Scripture Matthew 2:1-23 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.”

Chant Come and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Sprit come. (repeat)

Silence

ScriptureKing Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him; 4and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet: 6‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel.’” 7Then Herod secretly called for the wise men and learned from them the exact time when the star had appeared. 8Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child; and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage.”

Chant Go tell it on the mountain over the hill and everywhere, go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born. (repeat)

Scripture When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. 11On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh

Chant  Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright, round yon virgin mother and child holy infant so tender nd mild. Sleep in heavenly sleep, sleep in heavenly peace. (repeat)

Scripture Luke 2:36-38 There was a woman named Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, who was also a prophet. She had lived a long life, seven years with her husband, and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple, worshiping day and night, fasting and praying. Coming up at that moment, she gave thanks to God and talked about the child to all who anticipated the deliverance of Jerusalem.

Prayer(in union)Holy Mama, Great Spirit, God of Love,  You who we call by many names, we give thanks for the gift of life and all of creation. We thank you for the leap of joy in our hearts that is Christmas. We pray for the 8 billion people in our human family and for the animals, plants and minerals, the water, air, land and stars. May we treat all children and all life forms as the interconnected web of interspecies life that is the truth of our shared existence. We pray for the 150-200 species that die every day in this time of earth genocide. (Silence)  We pray for the humanitarian crisis at the US border with Mexico, with 15,000 children have been incarcerated by our government. We pray for the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the 14 million people on the brink of starvation. We pray for all those who are hungry and living in violence in Central America, Afghanistan, Palestine, urban America and those suffering from domestic violence in families around the world.  We pray for all those in war torn countries and those in prison.   We pray for the 68 million refugees in the world, one in every 100 people, half of whom are under 18 years old. We pray for climate catastrophe, corporate greed and military madness that has brought us to an earth crisis. May this crisis wake us up to our oneness and that we are created in love. God hear our prayers.     (Silence)We pray for the poor and sick as  well as the poor and sick of spirit. (Silence)We pray for our common home Mother Earth who has been dishonored, ignored and abused. Reading “America is in the powerful and perilous position of being the empire of our day….the stories of the first Christmas are pervasively anti-imperial. In our setting, what does it mean to affirm with the Christmas stories that Jesus is the son of God (and the emperor is not)… that Jesus is the way to peace on earth (and the emperor is not). There is a political meaning and challenge in these stories, both in their ancient setting and today. Of course these stories are not “only “ political—they are also deeply personal and they speak powerfully about our deepest yearnings and about God’s promises and passion….They are about light in our darkness, the fulfillment of our deepest yearnings, and the birth of Christ within us.”

Scripture Luke 2:1-7New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 All went to their own towns to be registered. 4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. 5 He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Scripture Luke 2:8-19 In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: 11 to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah,[a] the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host,[b] praising God and saying,14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!”[c]15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. 17 When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.

Reading “Now, if we take the sponge and saturate it in the waters of selfhood, it becomes heavy, ponderous and bloated; and because it cannot respond to the breezes, it virtually goes nowhere. If, however, the sponge can stay away from these waters and no longer allow itself to be used, it will eventually, by sitting alone and aloof for a long time, dry out and return to its original structure. But there’s another way this can happen. This is for an outside agent to pick up the sponge and squeeze it dry—quickly and all at once—and then put it aside to be used for other purposes than the absorbing of water. The sponge that has been quickly dried has, at first, a unique sense of lightness, emptiness and freedom. It takes a awhile to adjust to a new way of life wherein it eventually discovers that the basic structure of the mind and its faculties remain intact and perfectly functional but functional in a new way, a way no longer weighed down by the absorption of water. Although it knows there has been some radical change that seem to be a transformation into something other than what it was, in time it sees it has only returned to what it was originally; and thus, everything seems to be the same as before, with the only difference being the absence of the waters of self.” The Experience of No-SelfBernadette Roberts

We dedicate this worship to her memory and to all who like Berta and Mother Mary had the courage to stand in solidarity with God and justice against violent and the tortuous forces of Empire. We ask for the spirit of Mary and Berta to be with us now. We ask Godto give us courage and vision. Berta said, “We must undertake the struggle in all parts of the world, wherever we may be, because we have no other spare or replacement planet. We have only this one, and we have to take action,”

The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Scripture  Luke 1:44-56

Words of Wisdom  “The Magnificat's message is so subversive that for a period during the 1980s the government of Guatemala banned its public recitation, seeing the central point of this song to be the assertion of the holiness of God. Peruvian theologian Gustave Gutierrez argues that any reading is fruitless that "attempts to tone down what Mary's song tells us about the preferential love of God for the lowly and the abused, and about the transformation of history that God's loving will implies."' Elizabeth Johnson, US Catholic Faith and Real Life, Dec. 20013

Chant Praise God whose loving covenant supports those in distress remembering  past promises with present faithfulness.

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Revelation 12: 1 A great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pangs, in the agony of giving birth. Then another portent appeared in heaven: a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, so that he might devour her child as soon as it was born. And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule[a] all the nations with a rod of iron. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne;

You Holy One who are all over the place, down, up, inside and outside, you are as small as cells we cannot see with the human eye to the largeness of distant galaxies.  Thank you God for Mother Earth, our planetary home and our place among all the species of life.

Where there is life there is hope. We celebrate hope. We pray for our enemies as Jesus taught us.

Spirit, spirit of gentleness. Blow through the wilderness, calling and free. Spirit, spirit of restlessness. Stir me from placidness. Wind, wind on the sea. - James K. Manley

World Parliament of Religions, Toronto Canada

Meditative words “Receptiveness and responsiveness to God’s call always works for ecological civilization.  There is no requirement that one think about this inclusive goal.  but God has called some to think about the inclusive goal and offer that understanding to others.  Perhaps those who understand the common goal can receive from God calls that are not possible for those whose imagination is more limited.  Some of us are called to develop and share the common vision. Others are called to give a cup of cold water to a thirsty stranger.  Others are called to tell a joke.  Others are called to express their love in a sexual embrace.  Others are called to strive even harder in a race. Let us respect and love one another and put our hope in God’s weaving out of our small contributions a habitable planet, sensible ideas, and a humane society.” Dr. John B. Cobb Jr.

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

El shaddai, el shaddai,by Michael J. Card / John W Thompson
El shaddai, el shaddai El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age you're still the same,By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high, El shaddai.

Through a loving Mother Maria. You saved the ancient Christ-Sophia. Through the power of your hands you turned the sea into dry land.

To the outcast on her knees, you were the Go who really sees,

and by your might you set your children free.

Sophia, Sophia, Christ Sophia Shekinah, age to age your still the same.

By the power of your many names. Sophia, Sophia, Christ Sophia Shekinah. We will praise and lift  you high, Sophia.

Through the years you've made it clear,

That the time of Christ-Sophia was near,
Though the people couldn't see
What Christ-Sophia ought to be.
Through your Wisdom came the plan,
They just could not understand
Your most awesome work by the two becoming one.

Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness by James K. Manley

Spirit, spirit of gentleness.
Blow through the wilderness, calling and free.
Spirit, spirit of restlessness. Stir me from placidness.
Wind, wind on the sea.

1. You moved on the waters, You called to the deep,
Then You coaxed up the mountains. From the valley of sleep,
And over the eons You called to each thing,
"A wake from your slumbers and rise on your wings."

2. You swept through the dessert, You stung with the sand,
And You gifted your people With a law and a land,
And when they were blinded With their idols and lies,
Then You spoke through Your prophets To open their eyes.

3. You sang in a stable, You cried from a hill,
Then You whispered in silence When the whole world was still,
And down in the city You called once again
When You blew through Your people On the rush of the wind.

4. You call from tomorrow, You break ancient schemes,
From the bondage of sorrow The captives dream dreams;
Our women see visions, Our men clear their eyes.
With bold new decisions Your people arise.

Scripture       Matthew 6:7-14 The Inclusive Bible the First Egalitarian Translation

“And when you pray, do not babble like the Gentiles. They think God will hear them if they use a lot of words. Don’t imitate them, for your God knows what you need before you ask it. “This is how you are to pray:

Abba God in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10May your reign come.

May your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today the bread of tomorrow.

And forgive us our debts, as we hereby forgive those who are indebted to us.

Don’t put us to the test, but free us from evil.’

“If you forgive the faults of others Abba God will forgive you yours. If you don’t forgive others, neither will Abba God forgive you.

What we do affects everything else. Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before . We follow  the teachings of Jesus and  explore and study the newly found gnostic gospels.

SCRIPTURE GOSPEL OF MARK NEW REVISED STANDARD VERSION (NRSV)

Jesus sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.” 36 Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”

It's you I Likeby Mr. Fred Rogers

It's you I like, it's not the things you wear,

It's not the way you do your hair but it's you I like

The way you are right now, the way down deep inside you

Not the things that hide you, not your toys, they're just beside you.

But it's you I like every part of you.

Your skin, your eyes, your feelings

Whether old or new. I hope that you'll remember

Even when you're feeling blue that it's you I like,

It's you yourself it's you. it's you I like.

Tis A Gift To Be Simple

Joseph Brackett (1797-1882)
Shaker dancing song

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come 'round right

ScriptureMark 7:24-37(NRSV) “Then he returned from the region of Tyre, and went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. 32 They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him. 33 He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. 34 Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” 35 And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. 36 Then Jesus[a]ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. 37 They were astounded beyond measure, saying, “He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

Voices still and small, I hear you call, singing. In storm and rain, sorrow and pain, still we’ll remain singing. Calming my fears, quenching my fears, through all the years, singing.

I Hear a Call by Emmylou Harris

I hear a call now will I answer, forsake my all

To serve another, though darkness falls stay a believer

I hear a call, now will answer.

I see a light now will I follow, fill up this life

that grows more hollow, make joy reside where there lives sorrow,

I see a light, now will follow.

I hear a call from out of nowhere and from everywhere I go

I hear a call, now will answer.

I feel a touch, now will I hold on, be there with love,

For those with no one, with a kindness such

It lives though I'm gone, I feel a touch now will I hold on.

I hear a call from out of nowhere and from everywhere I go,

I see a light now will I follow, I feel a touch now will I hold on

I hear a call now will I answer.

She begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27He said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” 28But she answered him, “Sir, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” 29Then he said to her, “For saying that, you may go—the demon has left your daughter.” 30So she went home, found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

Make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy, And where there is sadness, joy, joy, joy. God grant that I may not so much see; To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born, to Eternal Life. Amen, Amen, Amen

Announcements:We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth -the only one created by humans. We gather to create community and to give thanks to God for all of creation as we build a new ‘ecologic civilization.’  Jesus taught a way to live in the truth and taught us that, “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32) Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we want and need freedom and one another more than ever before as we deepen our relationship with God. Following worship we invite everyone to the Mary Magdalene Cafe for a pot luck dinner at 6 pm, with vegetarian soup or main dish and drinks provided. Weather permitting we share star gazing and dancing. We follow in the early traditions of house churches, often  led by women in the first few hundred years of early Christianity and also to explore and  study the newly found gnostic gospels. Children and dogs are especially welcome at worship. (Dogs are not allowed at Torrey Pines State Park) 501C-3 nonprofit tax exempt status for church approved! Your gifts to church are tax deductible.

God and the World, John Cobb

Meditation“Christian faith is not essentially bound up with the God who is seen primarily as Creator—Lord of history—Lawgiver—Judge and who has so long dominated the Christian sensibility and imagination of the West. What the Christian know in Jesus is something quite different, and something which speaks more of human responsibility than of total dependence, more of full humanity than of repression, more of hope than of nostalgia of fear. The One who is met in Jesus is the God who suffers with us and for us more than the God who demands and judges from on high. We may name him Christ …but we must now, as never before, allow what appeared in Jesus to give meaning and content to the Reality we thereby name.” God and the World, John Cobb

Musical Prayer    Every Time I Feel the Spirit

Every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart I will pray.

Every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart I will pray.

1.Upon the mountain, when my God spoke, out of his mouth came fire and smoke. In the valley, on my knees, asked my God have mercy please.

2. Jordan River, chilly and cold, chills the body but not the soul.

All around me was a shine asked my God  if all was mine.

3. Inside the cave of Mary Magdalene, we felt the flowers and the oil.

We prayed for God to love us please and in her mercy she agreed.

Prayers of Confession  (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We are living in a time of the sixth extinction of life on earth where 150-200 species of plants, insects, birds and mammals become extinct every 24 hours. As we face this truth we need your love as we devote our lives to serve all creatures. We pray for all creatures who are suffering  from the violence of poverty, systemic racism, ecological devastation, and the war economy. You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, have mercy on us and bless the holy union between Jesus and Mary Magdalene within us and in our world.  Heal us in your miraculous love. Amen

Prayers(Please share names or one sentenceand we will pray for them and  everyone with the same suffering or joy.)

Scripture  Gospel of Thomas Saying 22 "When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner as the outer, and the upper as the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male shall not be male, and the female shall not be female: . . . then you will enter [God, the Kingdom of God]."

Gospel of John 5:17, 6:55, 6:63 Jesus said to them, “Abba God is working right now, and I am at work as well.” …not only was he speaking of God as “Abba”—that is, Papa”—thereby making their relationship one of intimacy and equality.

6:55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink Everyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I live in them. Just as the Living Abba God sent me and I have life because of Abba God, so those who feed on me with have life because of me.

6:63It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh in itself is useless. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (The Inclusive New Testament)

Group Reading and Introduction of Ritual

Voice One:Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and, burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

Voice Two: In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again. Alice's first instinct when she sees something unusual is to chase it. She doesn't think about her own safety, she doesn't concoct a plan, and she doesn't feel scared. She just feels surprised, then curious, and we're off – knowing she's going to be a fun character to follow through the adventures she's certain to have with this attitude.

Voice Three:Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small cake, on which the words "EAT ME" were beautifully marked in currants. "Well, I'll eat it," said Alice, "and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door: so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care which happens!" (Wonderland 1.22)

Voice Four:Not only does Alice explore the fantasy realm of Wonderland, she also explores different states of being for herself. After all, that's what all children have to do – explore a new size and a new body pretty much every day.

Voice Five: By this time she had found her way into a tidy little room with a table in the window, and on it (as she had hoped) a fan and two or three pairs of tiny white kid-gloves: she took up the fan and a pair of the gloves, and was just going to leave the room, when her eye fell upon a little bottle that stood near the looking-glass. There was no label this time with the words "DRINK ME," but nevertheless she uncorked it and put it to her lips. "I know something interesting is sure to happen," she said to herself, "whenever I eat or drink anything: so I'll just see what this bottle does." Alice's sense of adventure sometimes borders on the reckless. The author is careful to explain that Alice usually makes sure the things she eats and drinks aren't marked poison, but in this case she seems particularly careless. Isn't it likely that a bottle beside a mirror in a bedroom would be filled with cologne or some other toiletry that wouldn't be a good idea to drink?

Spoken Vows(in unison)

I Jesus, take you Mary Magdalene . . .
I, Mary Magdalene, take you, Jesus . . .
For richer, for poorer . . .
In sickness and in health . . .

To love and to honor . . .

To hold and to cherish . . .
From each sun to each moon . . .
From tomorrow to tomorrow . . .

From now to forever . . .
Till death do us part.

With this ring, I thee wed.
With this ring, I thee wed.

Singing vows

Make of our hands one hand,
Make of our hearts one heart,
Make of our vows one last vow:
Only death will part us now.

Make of our lives one life, day after day, one life.

Now it begins, now we start, One hand, one heart;

Even death won’t part us now.

Make of our lives, one life

Day after day, one life, Now it begins, now we start,

One hand, one heart, Even death won’t part us now.

Opening Doors Within, by Eileen Caddy WelcomeWe dedicate this worship to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Please joi

Meditation“ Why not start right now receiving your spiritual inspiration and guidance at first hand and not through anyone else? Do you not realize that you have within you all wisdom, all knowledge, all understanding? You do not have to seek it without, but it does mean that you have to take time to be still and to go deep within to find it. There is nothing more wonderful or worthwhile than direct contact with Me, the source of all creation. It means you have to take time, and if necessary make time to find it. You have to reach the stage where you are consciously aware of Me and of My divine presence at all times, where you are willing to bring Me into the whole of your life, and walk and talk with Me all the time, sharing everything with me, both your successes and your failures. When the love is flowing and you are one with Me, you will want more than anything to share everything with Me.” Daily Guidance for Sunday 19 August in          Opening Doors Within, by Eileen Caddy

I’ve got peace like a river….joy like a fountain…. love like an ocean….

Prayersof Confession  (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We are living in a time of  the 6thextinction of life on earth where 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours and we need strength and vision to prepare for the catastrophe.  The human family  has not loved you and your creation with our whole hearts; we have not loved  our human, non-human and plant relatives as ourselves. We are truly sorry and humbly ask you to help us to face the truth of the severity of our circumstances and begin to  work to do our inner work and save our common home, mother earth.  We  come knowing we must look to the inner demons within us and all the ways we have sinned against you by not telling the truth. You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, have mercy on us and give us courage as we seek to heal and purify ourselves in your unbounding love.   Awaken us to our false selves and egos that we may confess and share the truth of our smallness. We long to spiritually grow and become more loving to you, to ourselves and to everyone we encounter. Please bring all those things into holy union within us, so that we may become radically loving like you and like Jesus.  Heal us in your

miraculous love.  Give us courage to face the truth when we are afraid. We give thanks and are in awe of your extravagant love. Amen

Mary Magdalene CaféPlease stay for communion. Today we will share finger foods and birthday cake for July and August birthdays.

Scripture Philippians 2:9,10 Though his (Jesus’) state was that of God, yet he did not deem equality with God something he should cling to. Rather, he emptied himself, (Greek verb- Kenosein means to let go or empty oneself) and assuming the state of a slave, he was born in human likeness.“

Sufi Mystic Jalalludin Rumi

Love is recklessness, not reason. Reason seeks a profit, Love comes on strong, consuming herself, unabashed. Yet in the midst of suffering, Love proceeds like a millstone, hard-surfaced and straight forward. Having died to self-interest, she risks everything and asks for nothing. Love gambles away every gift God bestows.”

PrayerUnknown poet left at the body of a dead child in a death camp.

(in unison) O God remember not only the men and women of good will, but also those of ill will. But do not remember all the suffering they inflicted on us; Remember the fruits we have brought, thanks to this suffering—our comradeship, our loyalty, our humility, our courage, our generosity, the greatness of heart which has grown out of all this and when they come to judgement let all the fruits which we have borne be their forgiveness. Amen

We need your help to find someone who will give us two or more acres of land in San Diego County to build our straw bale work of art church in the spirit of Salvation Mt. We will also consider collaborating with another organization to work to alleviate suffering and create community for needy serve children, families, Mother Earth and the least of these. Any ideas of organizations in San Diego who may already have structures and or land that we could share are needed. Our visions is that the  elders in our church will  become community makers during the time of ecologic devastation,  following in the footsteps of the Taize community after WWII. Brother Roger bought a farm and cared for orphans and invited ecumenical religious leaders to join him. They became an  innovative spirit filled ecumenical community who continues to attract young people. It is time to prepare for the ecologic disaster in building radically loving community.   Church for Our Common Home has the vision of  using our planetary crisis as an invitation to spiritually grow and create sustainable and loving community. Our 501C-3 nonprofit tax exempt status for church approved! The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Meditation” …For the imaginal is not merely something that is at best possible as is the imaginary. Rather, it is of an ontological reality entirely superior to that of mere possibility. Imaginal realties are not less endowed with real Being than are the factual realties that are the basis of history. Furthermore, history itself ceases to exist when it denigrates into a mere collection of facts unconnected by a story—and this story cannot be found without a transcendent dimension that sees. ” The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Prayers of Confession  (in unison) Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We are living in a time of  the 6thextinction of life on earth where 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. The human family  has not loved you and your creation with our whole hearts; we have not loved  our human, non-human and plant relatives as ourselves. We are truly sorry and humbly ask you to help us to face the truth of the severity of ur circumstances and begin to  work to save our common home, mother earth.  You who we call by many names, you who are the source of all, have mercy on us and give us courage. Awaken us to the imaginal realms where we long to be with you. We know we will not solve our current problems using the same methods we used to create them and we ask you to guide our church and our work to save the earth. Please  bring all those things

into holy union within us, so that we may rest in you. Heal us in your miraculous love.  Give us courage to face the truth when we are afraid.

We give thanks and are in awe of your magnificent creation. Amen

Closing PrayerSt. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi Prayer

Benediction               Blessing Song           by Miriam Therese Winters

May the blessings of God go before you. May her grace and peace abound. May her spirit live within you. May her love wrap you round. May her blessings remain with you always. May you walk on holy ground.

Chant Be still and know that I am God/dess.  Be still and know that I am God. Be still and know that I am, Be still and know that I, Be still and know that, Be still and know, Be still and, Be still, Be. (repeat)

Words of Wisdom “Silence, they say, is Mother of all beings born of the Abyss. Inasmuch as she expressed the inexpressible, she has kept to silence. Inasmuch as she has understood, she has named it: the incomprehensible.” Clement of Alexandria

 Silence

Chant“Come and fill my heart with your peace, you the God of love are holy. Come and fill our hearts with your peace”

Gospel of Mary Magdalene “I left the world with the aid of another world; a design was erased, by virtue of a higher design. Henceforth I travel toward Repose, where time rests in the Eternity of time; I go now into Silence. Having said all this May became silent, for it was in silence that the Teacher (Jesus) spoke to her.”

 Silence

Chant Our God is our light, Our light and salvation. In God I trust. In God I trust. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene commentary by Jean Le Loup “Before attaining the Repose in Silence, Miriam’s being must pass through four climates, the final and uppermost of which consists of seven levels. At the opening of page 15, Miriam has already passed through the first climate. She has left behind the experiences of nausea so well described I our contemporary literature—that sense of disgust and absurdity at being too full of matter, trapped and stifled by the weight of our constituent elements.”

Silence

Chant Ubi caritas et amor, ubi caritas Deus ibiest.

Live in charity and steadfast love, live in charity; God will dwell in you. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene The Second Climate a tense and stressful climate of complaints and demands….Craving can never say “Enough” only  “More.” “And craving said: ‘I did not see you descend, but now I see you rising, Why do you lie?”

Silence

Chant HolySpirit come to us, kindle in us the fire of your love, Holy Spirit, come to us, Holy Spirit, come to us.”(repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene The Third Climate Refusal of knowledge, willful ignorance, refusal of awareness, closed mindedness, complacency and vanity. “ Then it entered into the third climate, known as ignorance. Ignorance inquired of the soul” ”Where are you going You are dominated by wicked inclinations. Indeed, you lack discrimination, and you are enslaved. “(Awareness of our own ignorance can be out salvation Does not wisdom begin with consciousness of our own not-knowing, just as healing begins with consciousness of our own lack of health?”

 Silence

Chant O God hear my prayer. O God hear my prayer. When I call answer me. O God hear my prayer. God hear my prayer. Come and listen to me. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene Fourth Climate Sevenfold Wrath, A climate that adds to violence to the other climates, bringing then to climaxes of jealousy, possessiveness, pride, and the madness of profane wisdom. And enslavement to the body. “These are the seven manifestations of Wrath, and they oppressed the soul with questions: ‘Where do you come form murderer?” and “Where are you going vagabond?”

Silence

Chanting Come and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Sprit come. (repeat)

Gospel of Mary Magdalene “That which oppressed me has been slain; that which encircles me as vanished; my craving has faded, and I am freed from my ignorance.” This is the psyche turned toward the nous ( the bridge between the Holy Spirit and the sprit within) It is no longer subject to craving and ignorance, for it has discovered the harmonious order of the human manifold. The soul’s sprit can now rejoin the Holy SPiirt. “

Silence

Chanting Alleluia, Kiss the Bride of Christ  (repeat)

Announcements:We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth -the only one created by humans. We gather to create community and to give thanks to God for all of creation as we build a new ‘ecologic civilization.’  .  Jesus taught a way to live in the truth and taught us that, “The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32) Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before as we deepen our relationship with God. Following worship we invite everyone to the Mary Magdalene Cafe for a pot luck dinner at 6 pm, with vegetarian soup or main dish and drinks provided. Weather permitting we share star gazing and dancing. We follow in the early traditions of house churches led by women in the first few hundred years of early Christianity and also to study the newly found gnostic gospels. Children and dogs are especially welcome at worship. (Dogs are not allowed at Torrey Pines State Park)

We need your help to find someone who will give us two or more acres of land in San Diego County to build our straw bale work of art church in the spirit of Salvation Mt. We will also consider collaborating with another organization to work to alleviate suffering and create community for needy serve children, families, Mother Earth and the least of these. The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Meditation“A living deity who wants to communicate thus necessitates an intermediate realm between God and human, between the invisible and the visible, between the world of immaterial spirit and material bodies. It is this intermediary imaginal realm that Miriam has her meetings with the resurrected Christ. As with the ancient prophets, God activates the necessary visionary, imaginal forms in her, so as to bring her to the Divine.” The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, commentary by Jean-Yves Leloup

Scripture    Gospel ofJohn  20:16-18 Inclusive Bible the First Egalitarian Translation “Jesus said to her. “Mary!”  She turned to him and said. “Rabbboni” which means ‘Teacher.’ Jesus then said, “Don’t be afraid of me, for I have not yet ascended to Abba God. Gospel of Mary Magdalene Line 7 “Lord, I see you now in a vision.” And the Lord answered: “You are blessed for the sight of me does not disturb you.” (see insert for the rest of reading, change translation mind to nous-intermediary reality)
