Passing of the Peace God Loves You and There is Nothing You Can Do About It

Prayer   (in unison)      Dear God,

We are witnessing the 6thextinction of life on earth the only one created by us humans. We come to pray for help for we are often lost, self-centered  and cause suffering we are not even aware of.

We come to pray to say thank you for creation and our part in it.

We come to lament and share our agony and witness the agony of creatures like Thalequah the whale mother whose baby died.

We come to pray and ask for your help in her name.

We come to pray in silence and to feel your holy presence.

We come to pray and confess and to make amends.

We come to pray knowing you will transform and change us if we ask for courage and to find a  way, when there is no way.

We come to pray for healing  and  to be empowered  in your love.

We come to pray gracious God in celebration as we  Dance with the Animals  for justice.

We come to pray to dedicate our church and our lives to care for our common home Mother earth.

We come to pray for her, Gaia for she is a living being and all her creatures need our help. Amen

Jesus Prays for Us Scripture John 17:20-26(The Inclusive New Testament) I don’t pray for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all may be one, as you, Abba are in me and I in you. I pray that they may be one in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me. I have given them the glory you gave me that they be one, as we are one—I in them, you in me—that they may be made perfect in unity. The world will know that you sent me, and that you loved them as you loved me. Abba I ask that those you gave me may be here with me, so they can see this glory of mine which is your gift to me. Because of the love you had for me …..so the love you have for me may live in them, just as I may live in them.

Chanting One love, one heart, One heartwarming everyone. One hope,  one joy, One loving filling everyone. (repeat)

Reading National Geographic “…Tahlequah, is a 20-year-old member of the long-studied J Pod of Southern Resident Killer Whales. These orcas, along with their endangered extended family—K and L pods—inhabit a huge territory that includes waters off Seattle, Vancouver, and Victoria, British Columbia.”

Chant U-bi ca-ri-tas  et a-mor, u-bi car-itas, De-us i-bi es. Live in charity and steadfast love, live in charity; God will dwell with you. (Repeat)

2. Lament and Sharing of Agony

Reading   (Tahequah’s baby whale died  30 minutes after being born.  She carried her dead baby on her back )  ….” at least 17 days  and 1,000 miles of a “grief tour” on the Pacific Northwest coast, in an unprecedented show of mourning that drew international attention. The sad spectacle was a prime example, and confirmation, of the complex emotional lives of these sophisticated cetaceans, experts say. Other orcas, and similar animals like dolphins, have been seen apparently mourning their dead, but this is by far the longest recorded example of such behavior.”

Chant Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen, nobody knows my sorrow, nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen glory hallelujah. (Repeat)

Silence

Reading “The death of another calf is a significant blow to J Pod, which hasn’t seen a successful birth in three years. Combined, the three pods have 75 members, and time is running out to maintain its viability. Ken Balcomb, founder and principal investigator at the Center for Whale Research, gives it five years. “We’ve got at most five more years of reproductive life in this population to make it happen”—meaning, to have viable offspring—"but if we don’t do it in those five years it isn’t going to happen,” he writes.”

Chant O God hear my prayer, O God hear my pray when I call answer me. O God hear my prayer, O God hear my pray when I call answer me,  come and listen to me. (repeat)

Silence and Transformation

Reading“Emmanuel Katongole finds over and over this phenomenon of lament in prayer, poetry and song: a “complex performance, a discipline, that involves many actions”: “Crying out, exercising memory, maintaining silence. In his own political theology, he has demonstrated that lament, in the contemporary culture of Africa as in the First Testament psalms of lamentation, “is a way of hoping in the shattered ruins of life” The sharing of agony does not cover  over but exposes a traumatic history, Only so might its participants live again. Affects of anger and compassion effect a solidarity that sustains. And the systemic justice required does not then confuse itself with retaliation.” Catherin Keller Political Theology of the Earth

Chant “Come and fill my heart with your peace, you the God of love are holy. Come and fill our hearts with your peace”

Silence

Dream shared at Church for Our Common Home 2016“And the elephants came to the oceans edge and spoke to the whales and said, ‘It is not OK that you are accepting your own extinction. We the elephants are here to tell you to not give up. Mother Mary was there and she stroked the trunk of Ganesh the elephant God. ”

ChantCome and pray in us, Holy Spirit, come and pray in us, come and visit us, Holy Spirit, Spirit come, Spirit come. (repeat)

Bonnie’s Dream, May 2019 “Giraffes Visionary Creatures

“I am at the edge of the ocean on the cliffs looking down into a sea cave and I see  a baby giraffe on the rocks and she is not safe and I must go rescue her, but I see no way to get to her accept going down the hole.  I find a strong man but his back is injured and he cannot help me. Then I realize I should call the SD Zoo, but no it will be better and faster for me to just call the fire department. I check on my baby giraffe again and she in more danger then before and the tide is coming up and will soon be covering her with water. She is terrified and I must rescue her. ”

Chant I hear a call now will answer forsake my all, to serve another, though darkness falls, stay a believer, I hear a call now will answer. (repeat)

Dream Incubation  Dear Spirit, you who are called by many names, you who are the Bringer of Dreams,

I give thanks for this day and this night, and for the gift of day and night dreams and visions.  Please help me to remember my dreams and record them so I can share them for the healing and wholeness of all creatures and Gaia a living being. Please guide me and my dream body to a sacred place where I will  open and awaken to your wisdom and love. I ask for guidance for all of us  Earthlings, as we learn new ways to honor and care for our common home, Mother Earth. May I be purified and healed and may I be awaken to the sacred in all nature that is alive. Amen

Chant Glory, glory hallelujah, since I laid my burden down, Glory, glory hallelujah, since I laid my burden down.

Feel like dancing, hallelujah, since I laid my burden down…..  (repeat)

Reading“Tahlequah carried her calf for at least 17 days and 1,000 miles, and researchers had worried she'd endangered herself by expending so much effort. But now she appears in good health.”

ChantOh when the saints go marching in, oh when the saints go marching in. I want to be in that number when the saints go marching. (repeat)

Invitations: Our current ecologic crisis is a call to awaken to the reverence of life and the truth that all nature is alive and sacred. As we witness the sixth extinction of life on earth, the only one created by us humans, we are invited to reclaim the ancient wisdom traditions. We are one organic, interspecies, interconnected whole.   What we do affects everyone else. Every Sunday at 5 pm we acknowledge that we need one another more than ever before . and commune with the Great  Spirit. We celebrate  the  wisdom traditions from  the East, West, indigenous peoples,  new science as we study the teachings of Jesus and the Bible and the newly found gnostic gospels.
